Butter Pecan Turtle Bars Baking Directions
Base;
1 1/2 cups quick cooking oats
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 cup flour
Topping;
2 cups pecan halves
2/3 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Preheat oven. In a large mixing bowl combine oats, flour, 1 cup of brown sugar and butter. Blend at medium speed until crumbly. Press evenly in the bottom of baking dish; sprinkle with pecans.
In a medium saucepan, combine 2/3 cup butter, 1/2 cup brown sugar. Cook over medium heat until mixture comes to a boil. Boil for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Pour hot mixture evenly over pecans. Bake until entire top is bubbly.
Remove butter pecan turtle bars form the oven; immediately sprinkle with chocolate chips. Allow chips to melt, 2 or 3 minutes; lightly swirl melted chocolate around the top. Cool completely before cutting.
